In 2008 hoses with an inner core of EPDM and an outer braid of stainless steel were used to connect the chilled beams at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. To interchange the beams, brass QRCs were also used. Supaflex supplied the hoses and dual shut off QRCs, following approval of the samples. The QRCs are commonly used on fancoil unit installations, providing ease of removal, for both maintenance or interchange of the layout. The hoses supplied have been subjected to a batch life-cycle test by BSRIA. On disconnection of the QRCs, only a small amount of water is lost. The QRC's are reversed on the hoses and equipment during testing and if the unit is removed they can be connected together.
